7 Indoor Games to Keep Kids Entertained on a Rainy Day

No TV. No Video Games. Yet, the kids are happy and active indoors. Is that honestly possible? Here’s how you do it. Check out the list of 7 indoor games to keep kids entertained on a rainy day.

Building Forts

Without an expensive building kit, kids can still have fun building towers out of sticks, cards, boxes or even pillows. Get things competitive by giving away badges to those who can build the highest tower and keep it from toppling.

Balancing Game at Home

Create a line on the bed with masking tape to form the beam.

Put on some music, and one at a time, the kids can take their turn, walking one foot over the other across the straight line of tape. This game gets even more exciting when they walk backwards or balance with one foot on the line.

London Statue

Play your children’s favourite music and ask them to dance until the music stops.

When it stops, the players have to literally stop in their tracks, becoming statues. The twist is that when the parent’s back is turned, the children can move their positions.

Magical Parents

Place a coin under plastic or paper cups and shuffle them before asking your child to spot the one with the coin. You can get things even more exciting by secretly removing the coin through the edge of table, and watching the surprised response of your kid as they realise the coin is gone.

Indoor bowling

A fun way to reuse water bottles is by lining up six to ten water bottles at the end of your room. Paste a line of duct tape to mark the starting line. Use a medium-sized indoor ball and start bowling with your kids! If you want, keep score and give out trophies at the end.

Bubbles

You don’t have to go outside to enjoy bubbles. It would help if you had a plate and straw for each player for this indoor game, some dishwashing soap and water. Place a dime-size drop of dish soap at the centre of each plate. Pour some water onto the plate and gently mix with the dish soap until some suds form. Next, have the kids place the straw in the suds and blow very gently. Watch as massive bubbles start to form.
